Whimsically Inclined |
Being a little kid just seems so easy now that I'm older. I wish I could go back sometimes. Welcome to adult hood I guess :/ Life is too short to have regrets! Live life and enjoy it! sure it won't always be easy and yeah a lot of stuff might get you down but thats one reason why Jesus is there to help you out. People will disappoint you but God won't <3 |

What if girls stopped wearing make-up? What if they realized that they don’t need a liquid mask to be considered beautiful? Ladies what are we doing and why?
For the past week and a half I haven’t put on any make-up at all. It started (Monday of last week) out me being to tired to put it on, but the next morning I looked in the mirror and I just…I didn’t see the point in putting on make-up. I’ve been thinking about it for the past few days. What purpose does wearing make-up hold? Why do woman and girls wake up everyday and feel the need to cover their face with a bunch of stuff they don’t really need at all? Why have I been doing that to myself for so long? It was something exciting when I was first allowed to wear it, but now I don’t even see the point. Why have been wearing it all this time? truth is I felt I had to…I felt like to reach my “true” beauty I had to cover the “imperfections” and “accentuation” my eyes (my apparent only good physical feature…at least it’s the only one people ever compliment me on anyway….not important). I’d never felt beautiful on my own. I always thought that I needed help to be beautiful… That is until this last week and a half. Now, I look in the mirror and yes I see beauty.
What people fail to realize is that “beauty isn’t only skin deep” In fact, I’d venture to say that TRUE BEAUTY has absolutely NOTHING to do with anyone’s outer appearance. Beauty isn’t how you are seen, but rather how you are viewed. To be seen is when people look at your physical appearance, but being viewed is people seeing YOU…the things that make you who they are. Things like your personality, your actions, your motives, and most importantly how you view yourself.
The fact is, ladies, you’re beautiful because 1) God made you. He created you with your face and sculpted your body with His very own hands and 2) re-read reason number 1. God made you with your hair, your eyes, your mouth, your nose, your ears, and your body! You don’t need you to change or “enhance” any of it by any means.
Yes! I call myself beautiful! Sue me!!!! I’m tired of hearing people say how important it is for girls to have self esteem and confidence then call them conceited when they call themselves beautiful. Really!?! Make up your mind!!! Should I be insecure about myself or have confidence in myself? That’s really what it comes down to. Girls don’t try to lie to me and say that there hasn’t been a day when you look at yourself and say, ” DANG! Someone is looking good today!” and then that whole day you walk around with your head held high feeling like no one and nothing can hold you back or knock you down. I know what that feels like. Heck! I’ve done that before lol! Thinking that you yourself are beautiful does NOT make you conceited. It just means you have confidence in yourself and in the fact that God doesn’t make junk.
Bottom Line: I’m not saying don’t wear make-up. I’m not saying it’s mad or wrong to wear it. I’m just asking you to question why it is that you wear it.

“Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety”
~ Proverbs 11:14 ~
So lately I’ve been really trying to drive into The Word of GOD; soaking it in and trying to apply it to my life. It’s been going pretty well so far. I can honestly say I’ve read more of my Bible in the past three months than I have in my whole life! The Bible is the most relevant book ever! (I don’t care how long ago it was written eveything it says still applies to today)
The past few weeks, however, I’ve been having a difficult time figuring out what book to read and study next. While I figure it out I’ve just been jumping around to different books and chapters. Last week I found myself in the book of Proverbs chapter 11. I’ve read Proverbs a least 3 times, but I always seem to find something new that I didn’t realize the last time I read it. This time was no different…
While reading Proverbs 11; verse 14 really got my attention. “Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” After reading this verse I started thinking about the leaders in my life. This verse got me thinking about the dynamics of how my youth group (Thrive) works and how my leaders play an intricate role in it. (My leaders are amazing! Just saying)
It’s entirely true that without my youth pastor Thrive would not exist, but without our leaders Thrive wouldn’t be what it is today. At Thrive they aren’t just leaders, but teachers, counselors, and living examples of what men and women of Christ should look like and should act like. Don’t miss understand me. I’m in no way saying my leaders are perfect. In fact, they will probably be the first people to admit to their imperfection. I am saying that they are the most dedicated and passionate people I know! You can tell that they are 100,000,000% dedicated to all the kids at Thrive (no matter their age, or their race). They are passionate about seeing us grow in our walks with GOD and building relationships, not just with GOD, but with each other as well. They want to see us grow stronger individually and collectively. Without out leaders we would fall, but because of them we grow; we THRIVE!
I am so grateful to have such amazing leaders, teachers, and counselors that love and care about me and my walk with GOD as much as they do. I am so unbelievably thankful for all of you, for all you have done for me, and for all you have taught me. You are such amazing and loving people! Thank you for being my leaders <3
